Ash Lawn Opera is seeking talented singers for the 20-person chorus of this December's production of Amahl and the Night Visitors. Auditions will be on Saturday, September 12th, 9:00am-12:00pm at 1st Presbyterian Church (500 Park Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902). To sign up for your individual 10-minute audition time, please click here and be prepared to sing an excerpt of the attached chorus part.
The principal singers come from excellent theaters across the country (including the Metropolitan Opera), the dancers are local from the Wilson School of Dance, and the orchestra is a combination of local and regional professional musicians, all conducted by Kate Tamarkin, director of the Charlottesville Symphony at the University of Virginia.
Overview of what to expect:
* The entire opera is less than an hour and the choral part is less than 10 minutes.
* Two ~30-45-minute Rehearsals prior to Tech Week, led by Jeremy Thompson
Sunday, November 22nd at 7pm; and Tuesday, December 3rd at 7pm (note change: NO rehearsal on 12/1)
Both rehearsals will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Park Street
Singers are asked to learn their parts prior to the first rehearsal and to have the music mostly memorized by Dec. 1st.
