Suzanne grew up in the Charlottesville area. While in high school, Suzanne studied bassoon with Elizabeth Roberts (UVA) and piano with Dorothy Stevenson (CMTA). She also played with the Youth Orchestra of Central Virginia under the direction of Dr. Charles West. While at Albemarle High School, Suzanne played with the AHS Marching Band, Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band under the direction of Gregory Thomas.

After High School, Suzanne earned her Bachelors in Music (Bassoon Performance, class of ‘09) from the Eastman School of Music. While at Eastman, Suzanne studied bassoon with John Hunt, Chamber Music with Richard Killmer (ESM), Piano with Yin Zheng (VCU) and Organ with Randall Harlow (UNI).

During her time at Eastman, Suzanne was fortunate enough to attend the Aspen Music Festival and the Wintergreen Music Festival. While at Aspen, Suzanne studied with Per Hannevold, principal bassoon of the Bergan Philharmonic in Norway. While at Wintergreen she studied with Doug Kehlenbrink (Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival).

Suzanne began performing as principal bassoon with the Waynesboro Symphony in 2009, after Graduating from Eastman. In addition to playing with WSO, Suzanne serves as Organist and Choir Director at Grace Episcopal Church in Stanardsville, VA. She performs with the Charlottesville Symphony on Bassoon and Contra Bassoon and fills in with other local orchestras when needed.

Suzanne and her husband, Brian, have two beautiful daughters: Lucie, born in 2014 and Eloise, born in 2017. She teaches private bassoon lessons at her home in the Hollymead area.
