Dickerson loves teaching. He has a wide range of experience, growing up on rural farm in Virginia, learning to play on a pump reed organ before his parents invested in a piano. He began playing at Sunday school when he was in elementary school, and began directing choirs while in high school. With the advice of a wise friend he went abroad after receiving a bachelor's degree from VCU and teaching in the Richmond schools which did not seem to fit his calling. During his study abroad he worked on film scores, and taught music in elementary schools, and worked in some new theater productions. Recently he has retired from a long career of church ministry and is devoting more time to private lessons and a wide array of hobbies. Carlton has over forty-five years of teaching experience. If you are looking for someone who has seen a great deal of this wonderful world, and has a very flexible approach to teaching and learning, Mr. Carlton Monroe Dickerson is the man.

Mr. Dickerson believes the student chooses the teacher. Call or email for an interview.
