Opportunities - YOCVA Executive Director

Youth Orchestras of Central Virginia (YOCVA) seeks Executive Director (ED)

YOCVA, entering its 40th season in 2017, is the area's only full season symphonic experience for elementary, middle, and high school youth living in central Virginia. Our five ensembles provide high quality musical education and performance opportunities throughout the academic year to youth from more than 6 Virginia counties.

The ED position is a wonderful opportunity to join a dynamic organization with a track record for excellence. This part-time, highly visible, ~20 per week position, requires experience in nonprofit leadership, fund development, recruitment and management of artistic staff and volunteers, collaboration with schools and community organizations, and program stewardship.  The position reports to the Youth Orchestra Board of Directors.

Benefits include a flexible work schedule, the privilege of working with amazing youth members and conductors, and the potential to set the course of the organization for the next 40 years.  The board is seeking a highly motivated professional with vision and passion, along with the experience and work ethic to bring that vision to life.

New Director Needed

We are looking for someone to take over as Director of The Colonnades Singers. We currently have a resident leading this chorus but as of December she is giving it up. She is 90 + so I totally understand. We have advertised within but have had no luck at all. It would be a shame to have this group go by the wayside as they really enjoy getting together to sing and they enjoy the fellowship as well. They have been on summer hiatus but the group will start up again on Wednesday, October 14th and begin to rehearse for their Holiday Recital in December. They are only going to meet once a week at 1:30 pm for one hour on Wednesdays. They were meeting on Monday and Wednesday but decided to cut back to one day a week. I would be willing to pay $25.00 for the hour if someone was interested in working with this senior group. Please contact Fran Perrotta at the Colonnades: thecolonnades.cld@sunriseseniorliving.com
